The menu
The Hotel Oasis bakery offers a variety of delicious breads, cookies and empanadas, all made by hand with the highest quality ingredients. When you arrive at the hotel, you will receive one of our bakery’s creations as a welcome gift.
Italian Night at Hotel Oasis is held every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with live music and a one-of-a-kind view of the Sea of Cortez. It features a salad and pasta bar where you can order your pasta with the ingredients you prefer and enjoy our homemade sauces, including Alfredo, Bolognese, tomato and basil, and three cheese. We also serve a wide variety of pizzas that our servers bring to your table, so you can taste our signature dough recipe and the ingredients that go with it.
You can also try a salad made with fresh, organic ingredients grown in the garden at Rancho San Guillermo, our ranch that supplies much of what is used in the Hotel Oasis kitchen.
The base of this pizza is its dough and its sauce; the sauce is made with fresh ingredients such as tomato, onion, garlic and basil. The dough follows the old bread recipe eaten in the town of Loreto many years ago, when bread was baked by the Fernández Fuerte family in their wood-fired oven and their children sold it door to door.
That wonderful Loreto bread recipe was adapted with a little olive oil and spices, and the result is this magnificent pizza: two worlds joined by food in the Pueblo Mágico of Loreto.
Clam Buffet
Every Saturday, the almejas tatemadas show takes place on the Hotel Oasis terrace at 6:00 p.m.
Guests enjoy the grilled clams with the famous mustard sauce and delicious handmade flour tortillas cooked over a wood fire, the traditional dish of Loreto. The clams can also be served grilled, on the half shell or au gratin. Fresh oysters, grilled oysters, on the half shell and with hollandaise sauce. From the grill we serve pork ribs and chicken with our own BBQ sauce recipe.
Loreto families would gather on the beach at low tide to collect chocolata clams, especially during the extreme low tides of winter. They looked for fine gravel to cook the clams in. The clams were buried in the gravel, narrow end down and packed closely together.
They are covered with a shrub called Romerillo, which cooks the clams and gives them their aroma. After 40 minutes of cooking they are ready to be opened, placed on a flour tortilla and dressed with the famous mustard sauce. The dish is served with Vino Misional, a locally produced wine made from the recipe the Jesuit missionaries used for their sacramental wine.
Shell middens (where the nomadic Guaycura people discarded their shells) are found around the towns of Loreto and San Javier. At the bottom of these middens, chocolata clams have been found burned as in a clam tatema, and even a burned pearl was found. This suggests that as far back as the years 800 to 900, almeja chocolata tatemada was already being eaten.
Ranch Sundays at Hotel Oasis are unique in Loreto. We prepare traditional cabrito following the recipe of Baja Sur ranchers, served with fire-roasted salsa, handmade tortillas and organic vegetables from our Rancho San Guillermo, all cooked on our grill. We also serve organic chicken seasoned the way only our kitchen can, along with the pork we prepare on Sundays.
To try a little of everything, order the Ranch Sunday platter, which serves 3 to 5 people and includes a bit of it all: cabrito, organic chicken, pork, Casa de Ana artisanal chorizo, Casa de Ana jalapeño jam, organic vegetables, fire-roasted salsa and handmade flour tortillas.
Café de talega is the traditional coffee of Baja California Sur. It is brewed this way on every ranch, and a taste for it runs through most Loreto families.
It is a strong coffee with a dark roast, made from peaberry beans, and it is the recipe we proudly brew at Hotel Oasis.
